September 29, 2015 – The Governor’s Office of Outdoor Recreation has begun offering the Waypoint Grant Program to help construct outdoor recreation infrastructure in order to meet the increased demand for outdoor recreation.
The grants are to be given to communities with a 50/50 match in mind. The funding pool currently totals $400,000 with a goal of obtaining more money for the program in the future.
Of particular relevance to cyclists, the grant money can be used for trail development. Additionally, it can be used for “Natural themed playgrounds”, which could potentially include bike parks.
Grant applications are due by October 30, 2015, and April 29, 2016.
