Nearly 80,000 acres would be designated for conservation and recreation, including mountain biking. Some of the land lies in the White River National Forest along the Continental Divide.
The bill was referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural sources. Rep. Joe Neguse introduced it in the House as H.R. 1728, referred to the Committee on Natural Resources. Three other House Democrats from Colorado cosponsored it. The same legislators have been introducing similar legislation every Congress since 2016 with no results.
