Come September, Park City trades its usual late-summer quiet for the roar of the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking, as Deer Valley Resort hosts the final round of the Official US National Mountain Bike Championship series September 11–13, 2026. Three days of downhill racing will play out across the resort’s Bald Eagle Mountain, drawing everyone from pro contenders to youth and adaptive athletes onto the same trail system.
It’s Deer Valley’s first year hosting the event. Todd Bennett, the resort’s President and Chief Operating Officer, said visitation to its downhill terrain has climbed steadily, and hosting the US Open gives Deer Valley a chance to put its trail system, bike park, and rider amenities in front of a national mountain biking audience already primed to show up.
The Road to Park City
The Fox US Open caps the 2026 Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series presented by Continental, a five-race circuit that pulls together an international field of pro and amateur riders chasing overall championship titles. Before Deer Valley, the series runs through Ride Rock Creek in North Carolina, Mountain Creek Bike Park in New Jersey, Utah’s own Solitude Mountain Resort, and Big Bear Lake, California — a cross-country tour that lands, fittingly, in a state that’s become one of downhill racing’s most reliable proving grounds. Pro Finals hit Bald Eagle Mountain on Saturday, September 12, with the full weekend expected to draw an estimated 10,000 spectators.
Pro Downhill Series General Manager Clay Harper put it simply: Utah has already proven itself as a downhill stage in the US, so bringing the Open here tracks. He pointed to Deer Valley’s history with iconic downhill races as part of the draw, and said the series is working with the resort on an updated track for 2026, with more details to come.
