Donations made early in the two-week campaign may qualify for a dollar-for-dollar match

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Bike Utah will raise money for its youth bicycle safety and education programs during the inaugural Utah Youth Sports Giving Day, a statewide campaign supporting organizations that help young people participate in sports and active recreation.

The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, September 12, and continues through 11:59 p.m. September 26. Donors can contribute through Bike Utah’s campaign page.

Early contributions may go twice as far. Campaign partners will provide a dollar-for-dollar match for eligible donations from the first $1 million raised through Utah Youth Sports Giving Day.

Bike Utah plans to use the money to help more children learn how to ride safely and confidently. Its bicycle safety courses and school assemblies teach elementary and middle school students the skills they need to navigate their neighborhoods and communities by bike.

The organization has introduced thousands of Utah children to safe bicycling while encouraging active transportation and a lifelong interest in riding. Donations will also support Bike Utah’s broader education, community engagement and advocacy work to make bicycling safer and more accessible throughout the state.

“Every young person deserves the opportunity to experience the freedom, confidence, and joy that comes from riding a bike,” said Jay Zynczak, chairman of Bike Utah’s board of directors. “We’re excited to be part of the first-ever Utah Youth Sports Giving Day and to join organizations across the state that are working to ensure more young people have opportunities to be active, healthy, and engaged in their communities.”

Utah Youth Sports Giving Day brings together nonprofit organizations working to reduce barriers to sports and recreation. The campaign aims to raise awareness of their work while directing additional financial support toward programs serving young people across Utah.

Donors may give any amount by visiting Bike Utah’s fundraising page and selecting the “Donate” button. More information about the participating organizations and the statewide campaign is available on the Utah Youth Sports Giving Day website.

Bike Utah has worked for more than 20 years to make Utah a safer and more welcoming place to ride through education, advocacy, planning, policy work and community engagement.
