As consumers and patrons of bicycle products and services we can help motivate our local bicycle shops to be proactive in informing our communities of our responsibility to recycle and properly dispose of lithium ion batteries.

The hungryforbatteries.org campaign implemented by peopleforbikes.org has fifty-two OEM bike companies signed up. All a shop has to do is register for free, perform free training, and request the various receptacles for end-of-life batteries that contain fire retardant chemicals, or one the for use for a serviceable ebike while in for repairs.

Everyone ought to become familiar with the WATTS campaign. Ask or tell your shop of how they can be proactive. Look for WATTS in the window.
