STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — The Tour de Steamboat will return Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its 21st year, offering five road and gravel routes while raising money for nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado’s Yampa Valley.
Riders can choose among 25-, 46- and 66-mile road routes or tackle gravel courses covering 50 or 112 miles. The event will offer popular courses similar to those used in previous years while adding a demanding new option for experienced gravel riders.
The new 112-mile Lynx Pass Assault will take participants through remote terrain where conditions can change quickly. Rain or even snow can fall near the pass while sunshine covers other parts of the Steamboat Springs area. Organizers have limited participation on the route and encourage interested riders to register early.
“The Lynx Pass route is fully supported with three aid stations, including a crucial stop at the top of Lynx where riders can refuel and take in the views,” Tour de Steamboat Co-Ride Director Garett Mariano said. “This is a ride locals have been doing for years, sometimes supported and sometimes on their own. It’s an incredible route, with nearly 4,500 feet of climbing completed within the first 60 miles.”
All five routes will finish at the base of historic Howelsen Hill, where riders can enjoy a catered barbecue lunch, live music, local beer, a cycling expo and plenty of shade.
More than 100 community volunteers will support riders along the routes and welcome them at the post-ride barbecue. Some have staffed Tour de Steamboat aid stations for nearly 20 years, helping create the friendly atmosphere that has become one of the event’s hallmarks.
Lazer Helmets, GU Energy Labs and numerous businesses from Steamboat Springs and across Colorado will support the 2026 ride. Organizers will stock every aid station with GU nutrition and hydration products, watermelon, chips, water and other food to keep riders fueled throughout the day.
The Tour de Steamboat will direct this year’s proceeds to two Yampa Valley nonprofits: Partners for Youth and REPS, or Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide. Since its launch as a benefit ride in 2005, the event has helped contribute nearly $2 million to local nonprofit organizations.
“We’re honored to work with Partners for Youth and REPS and to continue the Tour’s long tradition of giving back to the Yampa Valley,” Mariano said. “These organizations do incredibly important work, and we’re proud to support them through this year’s ride.”
Groups of six or more registered riders can enter the Rally Your Riding Crew promotion through August 3 for a chance to win three nights of premium lodging in Steamboat during the event weekend. Participating hotel partners will also offer discounted lodging.
